During my modeling career, when I was well paid for representing cosmetic companies, I wondered why women in their forties, fifties and sixties would buy products modeled by a twenty-four-year-old whose photo had even been retouched! I promised myself that when I reached the “old age of forty,” I wouldn’t fall for gimmicks like that.
By the time I reached my early thirties, I felt I was over the hill as a model so I began working as an esthetician and make-up artist for an enchantress named Aida Grey, the owner of a posh Beverly Hills Salon. Aida was then in her seventies. She was glamorous, elegant and had beautiful skin. She understood beauty was ageless if you learned how to take care of yourself and, above all, if you honored and enjoyed being yourself at all ages. The truth is, every woman can look great and have beautiful skin at any age. Beauty and charm are ageless; their effects are eternal.
Now that I’m in my late sixties, it amazes me that so many smart women think they are going to look twenty again by buying expensive products marketed with false promises. Thank goodness the European regulators have put a stop to that! Hopefully, we Americans will soon follow suit.
Men and women often ask me how I keep my skin looking so beautiful without makeup. There's no special secret: I eat organic (whenever possible), including lots of kale and cabbage, I practice yoga, take an hour-long walk in nature every day, and use organic skincare (which just happens to be my own).
I started my skincare business when my daughter, whom I encouraged to embrace organic care, challenged me to start my own line, based on the creams I made for myself. So I decided to test it on twenty of my fussiest friends who were using the most expensive beauty brands. This was no easy task, as they truly believed in all the hype - they thought that the more expensive the product, the better it must work.
My goal was to see if my creams were as good as their expensive, but chemical-laden ones, or better. If 80% of these lovely, intelligent, brainwashed women thought my products were as good as what they had been using, I would begin an organic skincare business. To my delight, 100% of them came back saying “this is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used.” It was then that I felt confident I had a business. The results spoke for themselves, and, just by word of mouth, my business grew quickly, for which I am most grateful.
As we grew, we decided to become certified organic by Ecocert, Europe’s leading certifier. Their organic cosmetic standard supports top quality skincare without the use of alcohol. We also registered our products for sale in Europe, in compliance with the EU's consumer protection standards. We want to be the kind of company we would want to buy from ourselves!
Once you give your skin a complete break from perfume, alcohol and other synthetic chemicals, and use our organic skincare, you can have beautiful, luminous skin with just a couple of minutes of easy, daily care. The rest comes from eating well, being your authentic self, and honoring what makes you happy. So be happy, healthy and loving, foremost to yourself.
